My windows ME crashed after I made the bootdisk I needed for my friends comp.

Ok guys I posted about my friends windows 98 not starting up so I was told to go to a site and make a new 98 bootdisk then I put in A new floppy and all the files were extracted to the floppy and as soon as I removed the floppy my windows ME crashed! Now I have all the original cd's for mine and I also made a emergency bootdisk just in case and I cant get it to do ANYTHING except it ask start with or without cd-rom help I tried it with both it said I need to delete a partition and then create a partion which I think I did right but now when I change the A: to c,d,e,b, all are bad except c:
only when I type in SETUP.EXE ITS A BAD FILE NAME setup is a bad file name the only think it will take is FDISK I havent tried the c:> format yet. Should I try that now?

I think you might have a hardware problem. Possibly a bad harddrive. Try to find the manufactures name for the harddrive-might need to open your computer to get it. Go to their website and download their diagnostic tool(they all have them)extract the tool to a floppy disk,run the tool on the drive by booting with the floppy in. It will tell you if the drive is OK or not.

If you have to open your computer be careful about ESD. Ground the computer to be sure. While you're in there check all cable connections(data & power)make sure they're all seated.

Not quite understanding you here.What did you use to delete/create the partition?
Did you set it active and format it?

yes i did and made a new bootdisk and now my windows ME is up and running just fine.Thanks for all the help guys.
