Starting from scratch

I may soon need to start useing my old computer again, so I've decided to get it ready. it still works fine but years of poor user quality (a younger me and my brother was a lot worse) have left it a little worse for ware. I was wandering if their is some effective (free) way to start from scratch and if so can you tell me what it is.

Sadly I don't have the windows 98 CD

Sadly you cannot completly start from scratch with out the win98 cd.
Have you got one that some one could lend you?
We can help you get you computer back up to speed though.

First off delete all files you no longer need and uninstall unused programs.
Go to run type msconfig and post back with all the enteries.
Run disk defragmenter, If you have problems running this with it stopping post back and we will give you the solution.
Run disk clean up.
Go to http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html and run the scan and post the log it creats back.

Post back after you have done that or if you have any problems and we will help you futher.
