 I was told since I couldn't get this computer to do anything that the HD was bad. So with them on sale I bought one which was and IDE and installed it. No Problem. Now it say's there's no software on my hard drive / there's no software on any device's and stops there. (which is good because if it was to say anymore I just might throw it out the window). I've tryed the reboot cd that came with the system which is ME, but nothing......everyone said that all I had to do was buy a new one and put the cd into it....thats if..........(my foot)........anyone that could help me out here.....PLEASEEEEEEEEEE.....my wife is dieing to play her games...:thrilled:

Howdy craftsman1,
Welcome to CTH. Try not to post twice for the same issue please. Causes confusion as different suggestions overlap.
Saw the other post Here (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=109937), and reviewing the info there and here, I am guessing:
1 - Your hard drive went bad.
2 - You replaced it with a new one.
3 - You are trying to do a new install on that drive with a recovery disk.
If that is correct, the answer is that you can't do an install with the recovery disk, and will need to purchase a original Windows (not necessarily ME) cd to get up and running again.
Post back corrections to my guessing and we'll move on from there.

Well Thanks for answering me back Jintan, Sorry for posting this message twice but as you can see I thought that by posting everything that was shown on the computer might help ( as far as the 2nd message ) I didn't get the other messages until I tryed some other way's of fixing this thing........But the answer to your questions are Yes....Yes...and Yes......But as far as getting a new windows cd....well.....The guy I took this too had told me that the hard drive was bad and I needed to replace it ( which I did ) and then just install the recovery cd and let it run.......and well that's where I am now........I've looked all around this place for a cd that might say " Windows Me. installation disk " or something in that nature, but can't find it, So I was thinking that this recovery cd is the one that I was looking for........Well to make a long story short I took the PC to that guy and l'm letting him fix it....and I hope he has the correct stuff to get it up and running.......I do have this laptop here with XP on it but have been told that I can't put these install cd's in that computer....said it just won't work because I have to have the goodies off the other disk installed first....If that makes any sense.......But thanks once again for your help.....I'll let you know how I make out......Oh ya ...that fella told me that if he can't get it fixed that he would try to make sure that at least the C drive would boot up for me........Now I'm really lost......What good will that be ? Man am I lost....LOL.......thanks again
