I have an IBM 755ce laptop with no cd-rom. I want to install windows 98se on it. I connected the laptop drive to my desktop, running Windows ME, using a USB connector. I copied the cab files to my laptop drive and put it back in the laptop. When I run setup it finds file structure errors that it fixes then it says there are bad or corrupted cab files and stops installation. I have formatted it and run scandisk in both the laptop and desktop before trying installation, and I still get errors. I have done this before with no trouble at all.
My main questions are:
*Is it the USB connection causing problems? Because I used an IDE adapter to hook the old drive up to the desktop and had no trouble.
*Or,Is it Windows ME and 98 se compatability problems?
I have been working on some writing and I prefer to use my laptop. this is really frustrating me! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.....
