Hi all,
My Windows ME won't boot up in my PC. This is the message I get..
Verifying DMI POOL DATA..... DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.
My PC won't recognize Win ME Boot up disk. I have tried my HD in another PC...it will load Windows just not in mine. I also tried my restore disk getting the same error message. :hmm:

Howdy:
Sounds like your CMOS battery has died.. Change that and then boot into BIOS (setup) and reset it..

Hey,
That was the problem. I changed the CMOS battery and it boots fine. I was doing a clean install of my Windows(successfully completed) due to a problem with my Modem...keeps dropping my connection. I turned off the Auto Disconnect feature, installed a new Modem, but still having the disconnect problem....any ideas. Thanks in advance. :hmm:

P.S. I forgot to add that sometimes my connection speed is 12000bps, 24000bps, and 24600bps....on my IBM APTIVA the connection always stayed the same at 24600bps.

One more question....the PC that I have now has a sticker on the back that says Model: BETA 237. Would that mean that I have a BETA PC...like a BETA version of software? If so, that would explain to me why I have had so many problems with it.

Okay.. Glad the CMOS battery did the trick..
Now, question 1: One of the biggest reasons for dripped connections on dial-up is line noise on your telecom line.. Your speed will also be determined by how far you are from your telecom's switching station.. Have your phone company run a line test on your phone line to check for noise..
as for #2, never heard of a BETA computer system.. odds are, that's just what they called it!!
