computer freezeing up

Hello my aunt has windows 98 and she is having proplems with it freezeing up sometime.it has 56 megs ram 2gig amd processor.what could be the promblem?it has some much stuff in it we tried to delette some of it and still the same.

If you know that she doesn't have a virus,worms,etc. you might try this?
On the DESKTOP>R click Inter Explorer>R click Properties>Clear History>then Delete Cookies>then Delete files,put a check mark in;Delete all off line files.
See if that is of any HELP?
Post back and let us know.
I would run a scan disk and defrag after this.

Run Scans with Spybot and Adaware to detect and remove spyware. Also did u mean 256 MB Ram? Have only important programs loading during startup. You can also delete temporary files and empty ur recycle bin etc if your HDD is running out of space. You should also scan disk and run the disk defragmenter whenever u add or delete lots of files to prevent the drive from getting fragmented and slowing the system down.
