Hi everyone!

Today i had a 160gb hard drive formatted by a certified technician. It will be used for storage of pictures/videos/mp3's. Now since i have a 20gb hard drive running my computer (Drive C), this hard drive (160gb) is supposed to be a "slave" drive (Drive D). I have a sliding tray in which my slave hard drives go into when i use them.

My question is why is my computer not recognizing this new 160gb hard drive? The jumper settings appear to be ok and when i first start up my computer (for about 1 second) it says that the drive is detected but in my windows explorer there is no sign of this drive (Drive D) anywhere?

Is there anything i can do to in "settings" somewhere so that i can make this drive recognizeable by windows explorer? I am running windows 98se on an amd duron 600 with 128mb of ram. Is it possible the hard drive is too big to be recognized by windows 98se? All of my other 80gb hard drives work fine.

Thanks everyone for any help. I don't know much about computers so i'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.

Yes, that's possible. You might need to partition your new drive into 2 or 3 partitions of equal size. You can easily do this with the harddrive setup tool available for download from the drive manufacturer's website. You also need to set the 20 gig drive to master, and the new drive to slave. The jumper settings are on the drive or are available from the MFG's website.

Hope this helps.
