When posting links here on in the forums, I have noticed that people can post links with custom names. I was just wondering how this is done so i dont have to post super long links anymore.. :D

The Step-by-step for adding a link to a post:
1. Click on the "Post Reply" button
2. Type your post
3. Highlight the word or words you want to turn into a link
4. Above where you typed your message, click on the button that looks like a blue globe with a paperclip (which is supposed to be a chain link)
5. Type or paste the URL into the box that appears
6. Click OK

The words you highlighted will now be a link to the URL you entered.

You use the vBulletin {url=}{/url} code tags.
so to say link the CTH homepage to the word "here" you would include the following in your post:
{url=http://www.cybertechhelp.com}here{/url}

nb all {} to be replaced with []

For those that wish to demonstrate vBulletin code (smurfy), you can use the tag to disable vB code parsing.
So, I can show you this:
search! (http://www.google.com)

which produces this:
search! (http://www.google.com)

by typing this into my reply:
[noparse]search! (http://www.google.com)

Or, to display examples without their turning into actual links, afer typing the message in the Post Reply Window, scroll down to Additonal Options and uncheck "Automatically parse links in text."
