What exactly is the problem? can't use the good graphics settings? low framerate? Crashes?

And what specs do you have? Processor, ram and graphics card

You need more RAM, at least 512MB is recommended for gaming, 1GB if possible.
You will also need a video card, on board video is not good enough for any 3D games. If your current motherboard doesn't have an AGP or PCI Express slot, you can either get a PCI graphics card (not recommended) or a better motherboard which does have a slot (PCI Express would be better).

Unless you fancy changing your CPU as well, we'll need to know which socket it uses so we can suggest a replacement. The other problem is, changing the motherboard requires a reinstall of Windows; if you have a brand-name PC (Dell, Compaq, etc), the recovery/resource CDs won't work on a different motherboard (unless that board is supported by the PC manufacturer). So, you may need a new copy of Windows too, if that's the case.

vbn_in, a belated welcome to CTH.

The motherboard in your system is not designed for 3D gaming purposes. It's an all-round busines workstation or home internet/wordprocessing PC board.

The Intel 845GL chipset is capable of some 3D acceleration in games but it's not going give you anywhere near good performance.
It would be like trying to drive a Dodge Ram in a F1 race - the Dodge may be a quick truck but it's not going to be able to handle the pace!

The intel Graphics chipset dynamically robs the system RAM to allocate to texture memory, so the more system RAM you have, the better the current set-up will perform. The lag when you exit games is most probably caused by the game not releasing the memory efficiently and the system trying to operate on 128Mb or less momentarily. If you are running XP, then it's going to be noticeably slow.

I'm pretty sure all the i845GLchipsets are P4 Socket478 but to be sure we'll need to know the exact make and model of the motherboard. If you're not sure, download Everest Home edition from out downloads section and it will tell you.
We'll then be able to identify what type of RAM and CPU (socket type) you have and be able to recommend a replacement that won't require you to replace all your other parts to match.
As you won't be able to afford a new graphics card immediately, any new board will also have to have an on-board graphics chip but we'll try to find one with a decent on-board chip (ATi or nVidia) to tide you over until you can afford one.

p.s. u dont need 2 spk txt here - it's nicer for those reading if you actually type properly.
