Hello everyone,

Fortres Grand ( see - http://www.fortresgrand.com/ ) has a couple of applications that look interesting and if work as they claim would seem to be very effective in fighting/preventing malware infections. They are called Virtual Sandbox and Cleanslate.
It would seem that they would allow changes made to your system to be completely reversed - as if they had never happened at all. Rather than a cure it is a preventative tool.
Has anyone here tried either of these or have any comments to share as to their effectiveness and/or possible undesireable side effects?

Lynn

Never used either program, but the idea is sound. I have played some with Sandboxie (http://www.sandboxie.com/) tho.
(The price is better, too.)

IT SEEMS TO BE OKAY EXCEPT THAT YOU CANNOT UNINSTALL IT, DELETE IT, BURN IT, SCRATCH OR GOUGE IT FROM YOUR HARD DRIVE, nor EDIT IT OUT OF YOUR REGISTRY. TWO SLUGS FROM A 9MM HANDGUN BOUNCED RIGHT OFF THE FILE INSIDE OF PROGRAM FILES.
This is just as bad as any worm virus or trojan I have dealt with. It is sick. see if you can get it out.

Stay away from this program!!

I am one of the developers from the Virtual Sandbox team.

To disable Virtual Sandbox you just need to click the disable button from the interface. It disables instantly.

Virtual Sandbox can be uninstalled simply and conventionally through Control Panel’s Add and Remove Programs.

It is true that while Virtual Sandbox is enabled you cannot remove it by any means. This is by design and is necessary to provide reliable protection against future threats, such as targeted pieces of malware that disable installed AV software as a first step.

I haven't used such programs personally either but the concept of a sandbox is great, especially if others use your pc with much less caution than you do. It will certainly allow you to undo changes made by malware. I know people who have used such programs with great success.
