The point of it all is to not think about the point of it all. This is just a mentality that many get sucked into then it's hard to get back out. Just telling it like it is..

Your point may be in one or more of these:
Conventional religion
Science
Power, that is, dominance and submission
Artistic and aesthetic worth
Traditional political categories
Material wealth and security
Romanticism and relationships
Honor, valor, and courage
Bigotry, racism, and exclusivity
Depth psychology (Freud, Jung, etc.)
Humanism and "new age" psychology
Traditional philosophy
What's it all about, Alfie?

ROTFL, that eyebrow sure could use a trim, snurfen! But that big blue eye watching out for me, oooh la la!
Ha, I knew you'd all come through, and you did!
I think the closest for me is power, Nick. I want power....but not power as in domination, power as in brain power! These fish oil pills seem to be having no effect whatsoever, ha!
Well, you folks have a good and pointless day!

think of a circle And then think of how to find the circumference, and what irrational constant you will need for that calculation. ;)
Hope you cheer up soon! :)
PS:
We had the Big Bang to start us up and, apparently, a Big Bang will shut us down. Not necessarily. It depends on a lot of factors. There's a good link here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_fate_of_the_universe) with a brief introduction to this topic if anyone wants to read it, which I recommend. I did a paper on dark matter, which may determine the ultimate fate of the universe.

In cosmology (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosmology), the Big Crunch is a hypothesized (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypothesis) collapse of the universe (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe) upon itself after its expansion eventually stops — a counterpart to the Big Bang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang).
I expect that happening long after an asteroid blows us up. That, also, would make for a 'Big Crunch'.
I also ponder our sun burning out. Fortunately, we wouldn't know about it for 8 minutes followed by an instant freeze process.....of us all.:D
(excluding telescopes and the likes to see it coming/going within that 8 minutes)
Got 8 minutes to live. What would you do?
I'd start praying real fast just in case.

Gotta love a philosophical thread! If you don't see the point of it all, you don't have enough goals. Achieving goals gives you a sense that there really was a point to what you were doing.

Hey Harrie, not a funny answer but some believe that "the point" is to correct past mistakes (in other words "your core", or whatever you want to call it, returns until it attains perfection and merges with the collective unconscious..a bit like the Web). ;)
A very contentious idea and please, I understand that this ideology may contradict some religious doctrines so, for those that want to quote the bible, can you refrain from espouting please. :) Non emotive answers and sensible altenatives are fine.
I subscribe to no religion however if one believes "there is a point to life", I can see no other.
So take your lumps girl, its gonna make you a better person. :D

Nick, fear not. Don't forget the heat generated within the Earth itself, and the heat fossil fuels can provide us. Personally, I'd be more worried about us flying out of orbit (and into something else), or even worse, caught in the Sun's supernova (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supernova).

Carrots for eyesight ?
Carrots don't even have eyes. Shouldn't this be potatoes ?

Only lucky if the rabbit had 5 to start with.
The POINT is ...
Life gives us the chance to experience brief moments of intense emotion.
( love, hate, joy, sorrow ....)
This is what we were born to discover and why we are here.
If ANY one of us was not here, it would effect someone else's chance to feel an emotion.
For instance,
If YOU were never here, there are thousands of members that would miss the feeling of joy !
Take a tip from my favorite quote.
Don't walk behind me; I may not lead.
Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow.
Just walk beside me and be my friend.
