Hey,
I have a linksys wireless router thingy. I set up the wireless account and all that fun stuff. And i can access the wireless network and the internet from my laptops, but it keeps telling me that the network is not secure. Can anyone tell me how to make it secure?
Another problem that i'm having is that in the network i should be able to access the shared files on my other computers right? well i cant and i cant figure out why.
can anyone tell me how to do either of these? Thanks

Read through the manual for the router. It should have a section for Encrypting the connection using WEP or WPA
Run the Networking Wizard on the PCs. It should setup your network and allow you to share files.

Take a look at the link in THIS POST (http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showpost.php?p=577454&postcount=2). Let us know how it goes and if you need help along the way.

No, that document didnt help, the document was about how to share the files, but my problem is that my desktop cant find my laptop on the network, and my laptop cant access the network in My Network Places.

Check that you have the same Workgroup.
Disable firewalls whilst testing.
XP Home or Pro?

No, that document didnt help, the document was about how to share the files, but my problem is that my desktop cant find my laptop on the network, and my laptop cant access the network in My Network Places. But network visibility in a Windows workgroup is all about file sharing. If one of the machines can see the other in 'My Network Places' that means the basic network communication is working between them and the problem is at the windows layer. Either file sharing and permissions are not set completely or there is something blocking communication at times like a firewall.
This is why Degsy recommended disabling any firewall while trying to get this to work. Also, make sure you have at least one folder shared on each machine (Not a drive letter, a folder as XP doesn't like sharing full drives).
