I HAVE A 9GB MEMORY THAT WAS IN MY WIFES PC AND I WAS WONDERING IS IT POSSIBLE TO USE IT AS HER BASE MEMORY ? WE BOUGHT HER A 40GB AND IT WAS PUT IN THE C. AND D AT 20 GB EACH

By memory you probably mean hard drive. A 9 GB drive can be used as a primary drive, but it depends on what you want to put on it. If it's Windows XP, it would probably be a bit cramped.

I May Have Been Misunderstood Our Primary Drive Has 40gb Split Between The C Drive And The D Drive And Our Base Memory For Running Programs Is Not There Thats Why Im Wondering If The 9 Gb Can Be Used To Run Them As Our Base Memory Instead Of The Normal 256mb Or 512 Mb That Is Normaly Used

Hard drives can use paging files to serve as additional memory, but you need at least some RAM to run the computer at all.

If you have one hard disc in your pc currently, it is possible with most pc's to stick another one in, quite easily. Is that what you are trying to do?
If so, let us know the make and model of your pc and we can get you going.

SHE HAS A SECOND HAND PC THAT BE BOUGHT HERE IN THE PHILLIPINES ITS A AMD ATHOLON 1.16GHz WITH 128 mb OF RAM I HOPE THIS HELPS
HER PC IS VERY SLOW TO OPEN AND RUN PROGRAMS AND WE WER TOLD THERE IS NO BASE MEMORY IN IT

The 128MB RAM is the base memory. It is a low amount though, so you may want to upgrade it if possible. Check your Caps Lock key too, it appears to be stuck.

Flip it over on it's back, you shuld see a panel about the size of a Rizla packet with one screw on it. Thats where the extra ram goes. Have a look to see if there are one or two slots free. you can then buy the appropriate ram sticks and whip them in. They are little buggers to fit, so post back before you go steaming in.
