basic wireless problem

Hi,

I've just bought a laptop to be networked to my home PC with a wireless router.

The problem is when i connected everything up the laptop picked up the network connection but my PC keeps saying that there is limited or no activity.

Also when i try to connect to the internet on my PC when the router is installed i cant connect to the internet, as soon as i disconnect the router my internet connection works perfect.

I followed the simple instructions including the obtaining an ip part.

I'm using XP on both PC and laptop please help me as this is driving me nuts.

check your routers settings, it may be you need to add the PCs physical address (mac address) to a list in the routers setting pages

equally it could be you have wep or better still wpa encription and need to enter the key into the pc
