Whenever I come across a site requiring the use of Quicktime, (I do not have it and do not want it), It loads itself on my system and places an update command, qttask, in MSCONFIG.
Is there anyway of preventing this??????????????

http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm

That will redirect all quick time files to the very good Media player classic or direct show (never tried it). that should fix it.

If you're using Internet Explorer, go to Tools>Internet Options>Advanced tab, scroll down to and uncheck both references to "Install on Demand," click OK.

That won't stop everything from getting into your computer but it should stop legit websites from forcing Quicktime (and anything else) into your computer.

Done.
Now we will see how well that works.
Thank you for the advice.
