Static IP
Hi,
I'm trying to get a static IP and it says i should be entering 2 DNS numbers, but i only have one under ipconfig. What should i do? Also, when i try to connect to my router by typing my ip in the URL, it says invalid webpage... Thanks

OK BT have just told me that it is not possible for a "house-hold customer" to get a static ip...is this true?

Not sure if you are mixing up getting a static IP from your ISP, which can cost, or if you want one for an Internal Network e.g. if you have a Router.

If you have a router, you can set the PCs on your LAN to use static IPs and just let the router get a dynamic IP from your ISP. As, far as DNS server IPs, you don't need to enter 2. If your ISP only provides one then you can just enter 1.
The one issue you can run into with setting up your LAN and using your ISP DNS server, is that if they change their DNS server IP address, then you will have problems till you update the DNS server IP addresses on your PCs. With dynamic IPs and DNS server IPs, if the DNS server IP changes you never notice.
