Ok so i have a PC and a Mac computer that i want hooked up to a wireless router. We have a cable modem that is already connected to the internet but when we try to connect the wireless router the computers won't pick up on the wireless signal. Both computers have internal wireless. My PC won't let me connect to the internet through the cable modem or through the wireless, but it says that it's connected to the wireless i just can't pull up any websites. The mac will connect through the cable modem but won't read the wireless signal How do I get both computers to connect to the netgear wireless router? I'm lost and getting very frustrated. please help!

Welcome to CTH,

is the wireless turned on in the netgear router?

Can you run ipconfig on your pc and post your results? To do this click on start then run. Type cmd and press OK. then type "ipconfig /all" without the "". Do this when you think you are connected to the router.

Im abit confused when you said "the computers wont pick up the wireless signal" and then you say "it says that its connected to the wireless i just cant pull up any websites". Where does it say this? Or do you mean when you connect it with an ethernet cable?

Can you also describe how you have connected each of your network devices. ie broadband cable to modem. ethernet cable from modem to wan port on wireless router. etc etc.

and whats the exact model of the netgear router?
