Hey,

Im just really curious about how hot must the CPU Temperature be before real damage starts to occur. Because its just that my computer is located upstairs and during the day it can get quite hot up here espacially on scorching days. The highest i saw my computer on was 46 degrees celcius after restarting and going through setup to check my PC Health. I know im probably really paranoid or something but my computer is basically new and i dont want any damage to come to it. So any input is appreciated thanx,

I just spent the last couple of mintues searching and looking around and downloaded this program called HDD Health which says my current CPU temperature is 41 degrees celcius, so i restarted and check my temp there and it said 34 degree celcius.. Im guessing its so much less because the computer turned off or something, but at the moment it is like a nice temperature not hot at all.. I mean somedays its like 3x Hotter than this, Well it feels like it... But if this program is right than my CPU temp could've ranged from 50-60 degrees celcius on extremely hot days, espacially with the computer Upstairs!!! Is this something to be worried about?

46 is a little high, but reasonable. Depends on the processor brand/model though. There is no one temperature point where component damage starts to occur. Electronic components degrade whenever they're used, no matter what temperature. However, the higher the temperature, the shorter the life of the component. There is of course the melting point of the component to consider, but your PC will experience major stability problems before it's able to melt.

exactly what processor do you have? someone here will be able to give you a more specific answer as to your particular cpu.

My Processor Is an AMD Athlon 64 3800+, but so from my understanding now the computer iteself doesnt get like slower or becomes damaged from extreme heat, it simply reduces the life span of the it. By the way this new program stated the my highest temperature ever was 54 degrees celcius so just wondering if that is extremely high or not for my Processor. Call me paranoid if you want to lol.
