She has decided to take some time off for a while. She will still be advising in the safety forum when she has the time.

8 out of 8, but 2 were lucky guesses (the lyrics site and e-Mule).

I still want the prize, tho. Got anything shiny?

Hey guys, i got 8/8
I'm i newbie and i know very little about computers so please don't take it the wrong way (i just like to spent most of the time in the Cyber Safety forum)

So here is how i thought the correct answers should be:

At the screensavers site: the first site reads that the screensavers are shareware, so the probability of containing advertising software is very small, also there is a support button. The second one uses words like "BIGGEST" and "Feel free..." and it doesn't show prices or anything,so why would anyone get into all this trouble to give something for free? nothing is free in life anyway! Also check the icons next to the adressbar (is this how it is called?) the second one, doesn't have any.
And another thing is that the second one is called "AtoZ",i don't know if it has anything to do with it but, it is known that hackers use their own slang, letter "z" is one they use instead of "s" if i am not mistaken.

Smilies: the first one just tells you "It's me,pick me,i have adware!". Notice that under the big pink square it reads that third party software will be installed for collecting info and that there will be pop-ups,404 redirects etc. And also the only two buttons for the site are "about" and "help".
The second one (i don't nknow if it really has anything to do with it but...) states with red caps "NO UNWANTED SOFTWARE" and there is also a button why they are free. Also there are more buttons on the top of the page, have a look at them.

Game sites:The first one wants you to click on theese links, "Free" is everywhere! also no buttons on top of the site at all!
The second one on the top right corner has demos to download so it wants to sell, that's nice.It also has buttonssssss.

Lyrics:Allthough the second one has that "z" i mentioned before,it also reads that you can "add lyrics" and "correct them".Which means that someone really cares about this site to be OK.And it has those buttonsssss!!!
The second one reads: "DA MUZICIANZ", "i'm straight" (who cares?), "DA BACK WUDZ", "RENEGATE FOXXX","shake and snap"(i don't know what this means but doesn't look like it's moral...), oh and also below it reads something else that really doesn't look moral! all theese letters "z" "xxx" and the other words just give it away.

(To the moderators: i'm not wrighting all this to offend anyone,if there is any offensive word due to my little knowledge of english and english slang, please tell me and i will remove it asap!)

File sharing: Kazaa: It's known for all the bad thingies it has!
Bearshare: "The latest version is easy to use for all ages". For file sharing? something is wrong! Besides that, just google "bearshare.exe" and see what comes up (personaly i had heard at sometime that it has spyware called "bearshare",never found that name of spyware that since)
Blubster: Besides "free" it reads "anonymous" ???
eMule: I like eMule, i use it,never had a problem, also eDonkey always had a good reputation for spyware free file sharing

All theese are not rules to go by,the World Wide Web has a lot more options to choose from that can deceive you, theese were only two and the "hardest" were four.

If i'm wrong somewhere, please tell!

(Wow, my fingers are sore!) :D

Research,Research,Research is the way to find out whats a bad or a good program;)

Yes, existing knowledge is a dead giveaway. For example, you can be sure eMule is clean because it's open source software. Anything open source, or anything otherwise utilizing community participation (like the lyrics site which allows you to add or edit lyrics) you can be 99% certain is legitimate.

7/8, I examined them, checked the Urls, and eventually just took the one that looked more professional. I got E-donkey wrong. I know that any p2p file shareing is a huge risk from a peers files and I guess that made me prejegest against the p2p clients.

P.S. AtoZ dosn't make me feel worried, its a well known pre computer phrase meaning "everything"
