I used to have Earthlink for ADSL. When my contract was up I ran to another ISP. I have my own modem (NETOPIA 3341-Elk) I bought from Earthlink. I am trying to connect to this ISP and am not able to. I believe my problem is with the PPPoE. I tried to set up a manual connection through Network Connections through Windows XP. Didn't work. I went to the modem listed in the LAN or High-Speed Internet Connection and put in the new IP address/Gateway/DNS servers, etc. Didn't work.

I contacted the new ISP and they said since I did not purchase my modem through them they won't help me and to contact the modem mfr. I contacted Netopia who told me they do not provide support with Earthlink SKU modems and to contact Earthlink. WHY would Earthlink help me when I am no longer a customer? My ISP gave me a hint and told me I would probably have to reconfigure the modem. When I log into the new ISP gateway it IMMEDIATELY forwards me to Earthlink's toolbox for modem configuration. WHAT IS GOING ON?? I am so frustrated that I want to just buy one from the new ISP but that is exactly what they want me to do.

Can anyone at all offer help or suggestions? Thank you!
