I'm a bit thick when it comes to all this technical stuff!!!

I have a compaq presario 2100 notebook/laptop and i am wanting to go wireless. i have bought a sweex wireless adsl11g router and i'm having problems setting it up!
Do i need a wireless card for my laptop? ( i bought the laptop 2nd hand so dont have any instructions).
if anyone has any advice on setting this router up it would very much appreciated!!

You only need a wireless card if you want to go wireless. If you dont need to be wireless you could connect to the router using an ethernet cable.

I think integrated wireless was an option for that laptop so you may or may not already have it. You can check in "network connections" to see if there is a wireless card showing there. If there is you will still prob need to enable it (either with a button on the laptop or its sometimes the Fn key and one of the F keys with the wireless symbol).

Im not sure about setting up that particular router but I would connect to the router via ethernet. Can you actualy get into the config page of the router at all? Its usualy done by entering the ip address of the router in internet explorer.
