it seems that on my computer on its wiresless connection it gets cut out from the internet every 30 seconds or so,like if im playing a video game every lags for a second then goes back to normal. i have tried multiple routers/wireless cards and still the same issue. what is wrong?
*edit*
to be more specific, it actually doesnt lose connection atleast from what i see like you usually get a little popup on the bottom right hand corner of the screen if it actually loses connection. but i dont get that, all im getting is basically a lag spike every 30 seconds when im wireless doesnt matter what router im connected to, same issue. i have tried 2 linksys wireless cards, 1 an external linksys usb wireless card, and a internal linksys pci card. they are both G cards connecting to a G router.

Is the pc far away from the router? wireless can sometimes be like this, thats why if possible go wired. You can check what you are describing by pinging the router over 5 mins or so. Press start and click on run. Type cmd. Type
"ping 192.168.1.1 -t" without the "" and change the ip address to whatever your router is (If it is a linksys its usualy 192.168.1.1). Check for any loss of packets. If it doesn't lose connection then it could possibly be a prob with the online game that you play. Some servers can be very bad for lag.

it isnt only with online games, like if im watching a movie off his computer without copy pasting it happens in the same amount of frequency. also i have an excelent connection to the router. i did the ping, i watched it for a couple minutes. the #'s stayed under 15ms, but every little while it went over 100ms.

Thats quite a bad connection in my opinion. My wireless connection pings at around 1 or 2 ms. My opinion of wireless is that its great for surfing the internet and doing basic things but can be abit crap for online games. What set up are you currently using? USB or PCI card? Pci tend to be abit better.

ive been watching this more closely the last couple of days, and sometimes it actually does lose connection completely for a second or 2, where is says like wireless networks unavailable. and i am getting <1 ms connection too right now, after i moved my setup quite a bit. it gets constant <1 ms's then every minute or 2 i saw 1 969ms and 1 65ms. any clue?

The only other thing to suggest from me is to try it out as a wired ethernet connection. If you dont have the same problems you know it is a prob with your wireless.
I've had similar probs to yours and i've worked mine out to be a prob with my wireless router. Using ethernet works much better for gaming so i'm going to re route my internet cable to my bedroom instead of using wireless from downstairs to my bedroom.
I've just noticed you have used various different routers and network cards. Do you always get the same problem? Try using ethernet and if the problem is still there it could be a prob with your pc (ie not enough ram, video card problem, hard drive needs defrag, spyware, etc etc)

yeah ofcourse ethernet it works fine, most the time the pc is on ethernet, but when we lan up at friends houses and such i keep running into this issue.
and as for pc specs i doubt that is the issue (2 gigs ram, 2.2ghz amd 64+ 3500)
and yes i get the same problem no matter the router or wireless card. i have been through a reformat and i still run into the same issue.
my computer must just hate me.
WTB COMPUTER NETWORK GENIOUS!~

If your computer is fine when you use ethernet there is very little you can do. As you know, you get what you pay for so a £80 wireless router will not be great, but even the best wireless routers wont be as good as ethernet. Have you tried the new MIMO wireless at all? Ive heard they are much better, never tried it myself though.

it shouldnt be the router's issue or the card im using issue since other pc's connect to the router's and dont have this problem, and i have tried 2 different card's. im guessing its some setting on my pc. any other guesses?
