Hi--
I recently bought a Belkin 54g wireless router. I have a cable connection. My home network has multiple computers and ICS. I am using Windows XP SP2.
My IP address is 192.168.2.2. Default gateway is 192.168.2.1. And I can ping my default gateway until pigs fly, if needed.
The thing is, my router comes with this wonderful thing called a firewall that protects me from hackers and the like. That's wonderful, except that it's interfering with some of my connections and I want it to go away. I can still connect to the internet perfectly well, but things like (legal) P2P fail and cause the whole network to stop working. Then I have to reset the router.
I can disable the firewall completely, but that leaves the other computers in my network exposed to possible attack. I would install Zone Alarm on all of them, except I can't because of unchangable circumstances.
So I tried to put my computer into the DMZ through Belkin's default router setup utility (http://[default gateway]). Only problem is that it doesn't work. The P2P program still causes my whole internet to crash. If I disable the firewall entirely, however, the programs work wonderfully.
Any thoughts on how I can get this DMZ to work?
