Trouble connecting to sever's

Hi, I'm trying to play counter strike but it say's I'm not connected to steam when I try to connect to steam it says I'm not connected to the internet but I am... I can't play any other game's that involve the internet like SWBFII online and warcraft online ect. but I cna play internet games. please help I'm missing counter strike now.

possitive, I sometimes have MSN on at the same time and you need to connect for MSN... and I'm also on broadband so I'm always connected to the internet.
