i recently wiped my hard drive with a killdisk (dban) after that i get the error message- no boot sector on hard disk, strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility. i tried a couple of bootdisks from bootdisk.com and it just came up with this error message on the same black screen-
no bootable device(s) selected
strike F1 etc etc... F2 etc etc..
does anyone know what i can do ?
i would much appreciate any help because i really need my computer right now!!

Hi Cam

The reason you get that message is because you used the killdisk, which does just what it says and kills your computer.

You could try a recovery program from a bootable floppy, but I don't like your chances. The other option is to reinstall everything.

One recovery program to try is File Scavenger (http://www.quetek.com/prod02.htm).

Good luck.

Were you wanting to wipe the harddrive of all data? That's what killdisk does, as Ned posted.

Killdisk is usually used to wipe the drive clean in preparation for the installation of an operating system..like, for example, Windows.

no bootable device(s) selected
Go into your bios and select boot sequence to floppy first.
Now put your bootdisk (of the os you are going to use) in and save and exit bios. This will start the bootdisk with or without cdrom support.
Choose cdrom support.
Now start your Fdisk, partition, format, install windows.
