I has this problem befor resolved it by,

(Don't do this!)

Uninstalling norton compleatly.
Restarting.
Running bit defender. (removed few viruses)
Posting a hijack this log and bit defender log on this forum.
Some one said it was clean.
Then reinstalled norton and all worked happly.

What I think you should do is go to the cyber safty section of the site and create a new thread explaining your problem and they will tell you whats best to do. Don't follow what I said at the top. Go to the cyber safty forum and a hijack helper will help you from there.

Best of luck.

I have Norton Internet Security 2005 (it came with the PC), which includes:
- Norton Internet Security
- Norton Anti-Virus
- Norton Anti-Spam

Recently installed Ewido Ant-malware, but did not install the background guard, so Ewido does not run unless I open it.

No registry tools used.

Is the NIS (Norton Internet Security) that came preinstalled on your computer a trial version or did you pay extra to have it installed? If it's a trial version, it has probably expired (they're mostly good for only 30 days or less) and that may be the problem. The ccapp.exe file is part of NIS and is a common culprit of shutdown problems like you're experiencing.

If it is a trial version and you don't want to pay Symantec $30 (US) a year for a subscription, consider using another antivirus/firewall program that isn't quite so resource intensive.

I usually recommend just disabling everything Norton and leaving it installed since uninstalling can be a nightmare and create more problems than you have now.

I use norton internet securty 2006 worst decision I have ever made.
I liked my system best when I had no anti virus and just had outpost pro 3 firewall.
But its best to have some form of antivirus AVG is a good choice.

I use AVG, too, and never had a problem with it. I use Sygate firewall. Sygate no longer offers the free version on their site but you can get it from www.oldversion.com.

I've never used it but people who have like Avast, another free antivirus.
