View Full Version : Cyberlink Power Producer problem

Recently invested in a super burner which burns everything including dual layer and RAM.:D
Cyberlink Power Producer 2 Gold came as an OEM version with the burner.
I decided to upgrade to Power Producer 3, download version.:thrilled:
Paid my cash; downloaded the programme and installed ok, or so I thought.
Power Director, which is included, wont open when I click on the executable file. The same applies to Photo Now, which is also included.
Power Producer runs ok.
I have removed Roxio Media Creator 6 to the point where I removed all traces from the Registry. Uninstalled and reinstalled twice. Same result. Power Producer ok. Power Director and Photo now wont run.
I am currently into day 3 waiting from a response from Cyberlink Support. (they take your cash with just one press of a button on the keyboard but it takes thousands to get a solution).:curse:
Has anybody had a similar experience?
Also can anybody recommend the "best" DVD authoring and editing suite. I've read a lot of negative feedback against Pinnacle Studio Plus 10, Roxio Easy Media Creator 8, and Nero 7. Which one really is the best and why?:thrilled:
Thanks in anticipation,
Brian.

After following the advice of Cyberlink Support and getting nowhere fast I have finally given up on that company's software.:curse: I don't see why you have to go through hoops of fire in an attempt to get software, which presumably should be well tested, to work.:curse: I would advise that you don't part with your hard earned cash and look elsewhere. I wasted £30 and am not impressed.:curse:

Well the Cyberlink software has issues with some anti-spyware software and now, it seems, with IE7 as well!
I had trouble last year when I was running Windows Defender (anti-spyware as it was then) and Power Producer could not get started. Turned out that Defender blocked the opening screen that Producer insists on displaying after you first install it, so the solution was to disable Defender for that short time. Once the Cyberlink first run splash screen was dealt with, it was fine.
That was then..... this is now....
Now I don't have any real-time anti-spyware running, but I can't start Producer Gold after re-installing it! Same symptom but without the same fix open to me. I am led to believe this is the "fault" of the IE7 beta I am running these days. I could uninstall it but I don't know if I want the Cyberlink product badly enough! ;-)
So my sympathies are with the OP (Brian Stevens) on this one and I can say in agreement that Cyberlink doesn't seem too proactive on these things at all, they focus entirely on the latest versions they can sell you, rather than on patching the OEM software - yes, like you I got mine with a burner, and like you I want to use it for it's capabilities with DVD-RAM! That capability is specifically why LG bundles it with their burners. I am not at all sure why you were directed to look at dvd-shrink in this context, though it IS a useful tool, LOL! But Brian, did you muddle Cyberlink and Cybertech up there for a moment?
In short, if you have real-time anti-spyware and/or IE7 you will need to be dropping those if you are serious about using Power Producer. Hey, life's a beach, right!
Cheers.

Hi iano39,
Glad (in a perverse way) it wasn't only me who experienced a problem.
After more mails to Cyberlink support and the fact that nothing they suggested seemed to work and the fact that I had paid good money for all the hassle, they mailed me a link to download an upgraded version. This was after I had obtained Magix Movie Edit Pro 10 and was using it as soon as it installed. So I now have an upgraded version of Power Producer that I am reluctant to install.
I don't intend to drop my anti spyware so bye bye Cyberlink.
Yep life's a beach.
Regards.

Hi,
I wish I had seen your post before I bought Cyberlink Power Director.
The program promises a lot of features but I can't get most of them to work.
Their email support answeres fairly quickly but only gives me links to check out faq's, etc.
None of my specific questions are ever answered.
My 3. and last email to them a week ago hasn't been answered at all.
Yes, I'm very frustrated also and feel that I have waisted my money by buying (the retail version) of Power Director.
