HELP!! Call of Duty 2/ Video card problem

I have never played any PC game. I bought Call of Duty 2 and installed it without incident. When I tried to run it, it says "Fatal Error Error during initialization: Video card or driver doesn't support alpha blending." What does this mean and how can I fix it?

It is always advisable to go here and check your System before buying any game or to check your specs.. System requirement labs
