Connection Interruption

Hi all, I play quite a bit of COD2 Online but I keep getting the constant message "Connection interruption" and the screen freezes etc. I am on a wireless connection, however when I alt+tab out, the wireless icon instantaneously changes from having a red cross on it to changing back to normal. I then alt+tab back into the game and it runs ok for a bit but then does the same thing again.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry about not posting sooner. What wireless card and router do you have? Are you running the software that came with the card or the windows wireless program?

Using a LINKSYS Wireless-G Router (Model number WGKPC354G-UK), the wireless card is a Safecom Wireless USB adapter (IEEE 802.11g). I have selected the option to use the Windows wireless option.

I was using the wireless adapter on my front USB port.....Was having a few problems ataching a friends MP3 player this way until I plugged it into the USB ports at the back.....Will try this with the wireless adapter soon!

That is why you are having problems. USB wireless adapters aren't really ideal for gaming. The pings are quite high and they tend to lose connection every so often. You could check the connection by pinging the router for a couple of mins.

click start then run. type cmd. type:

ping 192.168.1.1 -t

press cntl + c to stop it.

what sort of times are you getting and does it lose connection?

I get the same problems even with a Linksys wireless card (PCI). Games runs perfect when hard wired into a network. If you want to keep up with the intense gaming I would recommend that you run network cable to your PC if at all possible.

4 packets sent, 4 received - Average time 2ms. I have a wired connection at uni and it runs like a dream, however it's at home on the wireless network I have these problems - Can't really wire it in either.

When it is running I still get really good pings, around 50-70 normally.

I triend plugging it into the rear USB's and it seemes to work ok.....haven't tried it for long enough to be entirely sure yet!
