Question FTP problems ...

I cannot upload files to my website using FTP, whether it's an FTP program like FileZilla, AceFTP, WS_FTP or just using the browser.

This may sound paranoid, but I believe a disgruntled former employee has put some kind of block on my PC that means I no longer have FTP access to the internet.

Can anyone please advise me on these questions:

Is it possible someone could do something like block the FTP capabilities of my PC and if so, how can I find out how they've done it and rectify the problem ?.

There must be a way I can test why FTP no longer works on my PC (I haven't changed my PC setup or changed service providers or anything else I can think of).

Please help if you can.

Thanks,
Stephen.

Hi Guys,

renegade600: yes I am behind a firewall - an Alcatel Speed Touch Home, however I have always been behind this firewall and FTP used to work on my PC.

degsy: yes, that link worked, and I successfully downloaded and opened a PDF file from that link.

Here is some more info:

* I can login to my site with an FTP program, see all the remote files and navigate directories.
* I have had two other people upload successfully to my site with an FTP program, but not from my PC of course.
* I am using Windows XP with SP2.
* I don't have any software firewall, I was advised my router would be enough of a firewall not to have to use software aswell.
* The computer connects through an Alcatel Speed Touch Home router.

Thanks All, please help if you can.

I don't get any kind of error. My FTP program just stops uploading a file half way through, then after 5 seconds trys to upload the file again and stops uploading the file half way through, then after 5 seconds ... etc, etc.

Just goes round and round trying to upload a file, but is never successful if fully uploading a file.

try bypassing the router and see if you can do the ftp thing. router settings can also be change by disgruntle employees.
