it definetely should play pretty good with your set up. Sometimes the EA account server goes down so you cant log on. If you have disabled all your firewalls i would prob say its that. Check out the battlefield forums for any news.

What other games do you play on that PC? And do any of them connect to the same game server that Battlefield 2 needs to connect to?

Have you gone to the website and created a user name yet for the game. That is how I had to do it to connect. I personally have had nothing but problems with my accounts for that game. The first username that I created did not activate at all. I had to go sign up for another EMail account and create another account which finally worked.
So just try to set it up from the website and then connect to the game for online mode.

I play alot of BF2, and Baboon is right, EA is the devil.

But on to your problem, make sure all firewall and antivirus programs are disabled, try to launch game. If it works then you can try turning them on one at a time till the problem happens again.
Do you have a game spy account? the first time I played I had to launch the game in the "play BF2 with gamespy". dont know why but it works.

If you get the game running I have a few tips I will share to get to the action faster with out messing up punkbusters, nothing bad just getting rid of the movie at the begining and a no cd/dvd trick.

Tell us if you have any luck. see you on the battlefeild!!

wow that does suck.
what kind of ISP do you have? only wireless?
your wireless connection, does it have alot of users or are you the only one off your own router?
can you play online once it connects?
I have heard alot of peps problems with this game but this is a new one to me.
maybe try to run viruse/spyware scans again if you have not already
I hope you get it figured out, sorry I could not be of more help, hopefully someone else has a solution as the game is a ton of fun, a big pain in the arse sometimes but a lot of fun when it works right.

Answeres

My original connection is cable but since there are no damn cables in our house I had to buy wireless routers of linsys and make it such that I can resieve connection to the internet all the way up here to the second floor of our house. It is a home network the most computers that we get in are like 4 computers using wireless connection and I have restricted the bandwitch each one uses exept mine my isp is Wow internet it is found at www.wideopenwest.com
once I actually get in my connection is fairly good it does have a little bid of lagg but I will try to fix that later after I could actually get into the game. I have ran anti virus I gonna run some even now and spyware also for anti virus I use sysmatic client security for anti spyware search and destroy and spywaredoctor and for addware I think it super adware removal so I will scan again but I dont believe it would be from a virus AND DOES COSTUMER SUPPORT HAVE ANY DIRECT # SO I CAN CALL THEM AND ASK THEM ABOUT THIS DAMN PROBLEM???
