Unhappy Gee , thanks Spider

I feel so much better about my AMD k6-2 550 MHz processor now <sigh>
I have all the speed of a pocket calculator without the convenience of being pocket sized. (LOL)

by the time you save up enough money to buy a 1 gig , they have a 3 gig. maybe I should just give up and start watching TV again -- no wait -- don't they have bigger ones then 19 inch ? and digital ? and flat screen ? ...........

Heck , I give up. going back to my cave now , please wake me when it's all over.

You and me both Mr1.

Just got a decent Socket370 board working (using a Cel500) and figure I can get up to 1Gig CPU for that rig from somewhere and I'll be rocking. 1Ghz compared to 2.5Ghz isn't so depressing as .55 to 2.5.

Then spider goes and informs us that even at 1Ghz we're still only 1/3 of the current top spec.

The slowest I've got running here with internet capability is a 486 DX2/66 which uses a 33 megahertz bus and the CPU cranks out a whole 66Mhz in top gear (turbo mode). I've got W3.11 with IE5 running and it's a tad pedestrian but not really as slow as I had originally figured. For memory and storage I've got 32megs RAM and two 208mb hard disks and with 3 compilers, MS Office, and WinFax added I've still got more than 3/4 of the disk space left (uncompressed).

My fastest is an AMD K7 1gig T-bird, and that's fast enough for my needs. I just finished with a 1.5 gig P4 system for a friend and didn't notice much difference in the speed of things.
