Hi,
The CPU on my computer is at 100% all the time, with no applications running. I have been to the Cyber Safety forum and posted various logs.
http://www.cybertechhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114861
Cyber Safety said there is no spyware or malware problem and that I should come here for further help. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Is the system slow?
If your in task manager, what shows up as using a lot of the CPU and/or ram?

Well you have one hell of a lot of stuff running.
Go to my computer and add remove programs, uninstall everything you dont need any more.
Next, click start, run, type 'msconfig'
On the start up tab untick every thing except your anti virus and firewall.
If there is a program you like to run on start up like msn messenger leve this ticked as well.
If you dont know what it is untick it, no halm can be done here.
Also
defrag your harddrive and run disk cleanup.
Post back and tell us if your are running any faster or not then we will help you futher.

What happens is that the fan starts blowing nonstop (which I'm told happens when the CPU is under a lot of stress), but when I check out the task manager it only shows 20-30% usage. Then if I launch something like Internet Explorer it shoots up to 100% usage.
What is strange now is that the fan is still blowing and the computer is very sluggish, but the CPU usage is currently only at 30%. IEXPLORE is 12% and Idle Processes are at around 65%.
Dudeking, I'll try uninstalling some things. By the way, I just remembered that this computer is running Windows 2000, not XP. Sorry for the mistake. All my other ones run XP.
Should I take this to another forum? Also, 2000 does not offer the msconfig function. Is there another way to check out all my start up files?

Idle Processes is the amount you have free, if thats 65% your only useing 35% of your computer
Fans blow around the clock, do you mean starts blowing extra hard?
my recomendation is to follow Dudekings advice but also open your case and clean out the dust, can of compressed air should work according to others in this forum

IEXPLORE shouldn't be taking anywhere near 12%.
Run Ccleaner from my link below. It will clean out all the crap from IE and the computer. Also click on Tools, then startup. You can remove startup items from there. Remove what dudeking suggested.

Looking at your HJT log you have got loads of tool bars.
Uninstall these if you have got loads of tool bars and IE pluging it will use more power.

Hi Dudeking. Thanks for your help. The only tool bar I know of is Google. Can you point me to other stuff that I should delete?

Right from what I can see you have got yahoo, google, easy web print all showing up several times.
Easy web print probily came with your epson printer it did with mine.
I recoment having a close look at your add/remove programs and looking for them they should be in there.
If you cannot find them I wil give you alternate uninstall instrustions.
If you use any of these tool bars regualy keep them.
With the msconfic not being on win2000 you can find out how to do it here:-

Post back tell us how you are getting on.

Another thought would be to download and install Startup Control Panel that then adds startup control to Control Panel...also nice because it requires no reboot!

You could also try disabling Universal Plug n Play and see if it helps. You can use Unplug n Pray (http://grc.com/unpnp/unpnp.htm) to do this.

apir,
Why is the Program Files folder named Programfiler?
If you renamed it, change it back to Program Files.
