View Full Version : In my "msconfig" the config.sys and autoexec.bat are empty

I just formatted my PC and I obviously did not do something correctly as there is nothing in my config.sys and autoexec.bat when I go into msconfig. How do I put what I need in config.sys and autoexec.bat? Also, what is needed in there? I know there was something there before I formatted, I just don' remember what it was or how to get it back.

Thanks,
Misty

What command did you use to format? format c:/s
What brand of pc is this? Did you put a win program back on? Which one?

Used format c: /u, installed win98se. PC had gotten messed up by a program I downloaded and then uninstalled so just decided to fdisk and format. It is not a "brand" pc, has KX7-333R mobo, AMD Athon XP 1900+.

Thanks angelface5, that site has a lot of info, I will see if I can find the solution.

Just got your other link and saw what I need. Fixing to go read it and see if I can get this done.

Thanks for the help.

Mine are empty, too. Always have been. I don't think Windows 98 needs them.
