Defragment problem

When i try do defrag my C drive i get the message (Drive's content changed restarting)
When i try do defrag my D drive it works O.K.
Note:I disable my antivirus,screen saver,sheduler etc. before defragment.
Please advise me what to do.

Sounds like you still have item(s) running in the background. Try either of these methods to see if they help:

1) go to Start>Run key in msconfig <ENTER>......under the General tab, click in the checkbox beside "Load Startup Items" to uncheck it, click on OK, then restart......once you have restarted, then try defragging.

2) boot into Safe Mode by pressing and holding the CTRL key when you see the Starting Windows message (before you get the Windows 98 splash screen)......choose Safe Mode from the Windows 98 Startup Menu.....once the desktop has loaded, try defragging.

teoulides messaged me to let me know that the second method, running Defrag while in Safe Mode, did the trick.

I thought I'd post the outcome here, just in case it helps someone else.

Start your computer
disable everything you said,then go to ctrl alt and delete and end task on everything EXCEPT LEAVE
SYSTRAY AND EXPLORER DON'T DELETE THESE TWO
After you have done this then try to defrag
You can also defrag in safe mode.
