desktop themes

I downloaded a desktop theme with a start - up and shut- down screen. I have removed the themes but I cant get the start-up/shut down screens off my computer. Can anyone help? I'm kinda new at this.:confused:

Hi magicmunchkin, welcome to Cyber Tech Help.

Two files were probably altered.

C:\Windows\logos.sys
and
C:\Windows\logow.sys

Hopefully the originals were renamed to

C:\Windows\logow.old
or
C:\Windows\logow.bak

Put your pointer over the Start(button (bottom/left of your screen)
click right-mouse button once
pointer over Find..., click with left-mouse button
click the Browse...(button)
click once on your (C:) drive
click the white slot to the right of where it says Named:
and type logo*.*
click the Find Now(button)

Do you see logow.bak or logow.old?

I see logow.bak

You can put your pointer over the
"logow.sys"
right-mouse button
Rename to logow.old
then you can rename
"logow.bak" to "logow.sys"

Ok we made progress.....that removed the shut-down screen to the original........but when I restarted the start - up screen was still there

That one is probably this
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp
you can two-click on it to see if it's the picture you're seeing.
If it is, you can just delete it. The next time you Set as Wallpaper
from Internet Explorer, the file will be recreated.

I couldnt find any file by that name.....but I did find other files with the word logo ......... would it be any of these?

logo.sys.bak
logo.sys.
logos.sys.
logo wbm.

rename logo.sys to logo.bak
