My IBM Thinkpad will not boot. The error reads "ndrl file missing". As this unit was a retirement gift from my employer a recovery cd is not available.

Is there a utility that can get my notebook up and running or should I purchase the $45 recovery cd from IBM?

Welcome :)

You will need a CD so that you can boot into the Recovery Console.
So you can either purchase a Win2000 CD or go for the IBM one.
