Can somebody please explain to me what the deal with Anonymous logon in Windows 2003 is? I'm looking at my security log and noting a lot of successful logons and logoffs for the user "Anonymous Logon. I wouldn't be too worried about it, except its happening not only when I'm not home, but when others aren't home as well, and it's very frequent.

Is this a security risk I should be worried about or should I just ignore it and let it go on with its merry server life?

Thanks,

~Speedy

hmmm, I'd check you've got this patch (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS05-007.mspx) installed.
Another good article here (http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/technologies/security/bpactlck.mspx), though it does need a bit of wading through to extract the nuggets you want!

Best of luck

Thanks, I'll try that second article to see if I can make it work. The patch says that it doesn't Affect Windows 2003 Server, so I'm not sure if that will do me any good.

Thanks again

yep, I was confusing that as I've got a real mix of s2k and s2k3 on the go at the moment.
