Firstly, Hi all. :)

I have a problem trying to get the Soundblaster Extigy to work at all but I believe it is not directly related to the new card, but something else lurking about. I had a creative 4.1 card I decided to let my brother have as he needed it for his speakers. Since then I have tried and failed to get the onboard sound, a SB 128 card and the new Extigy to work and all have the same problem. Everything seems to install correctly and is listed in the system properties, but I cannot select it to use as my audio playback in the control panel>sound folder.

I'm using Windows Me, have an Athlon 1.4 which is Using the SIS 735 chipset which maybe the problem as since I upgraded to this mobo and processor a while back, i've always had sound troubles. Please Help.

Possible driver problem. Remove the sound card from the device manager. Remove the card from the computer and restart it. This will ensure it is out of your system. Then shut the computer down reinstall the sound card and install the driver. I presume you have the disk that came with the sound card.

Thanks for the reply.

Whatever I tried, removing hardware, software, safe mode, whatever - I just could not get any sound device to work. So I fromatted, partitioned and got XP. Now all is good. :)
