Here is the quoted version of it..

If this is the first time you,ve seen this Stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
theese steps :

Check for Viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed
hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check you hard driver
to make sure it is properly configured and terminated.
Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then
restar your computer.

Refer to your getting started manual for more information on
toubleshooting Stop Errors.

Hi Joe, welcome to CTH.
The important part of that screen is in fact the STOP error, not the descriptive text below it.
INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE is the error.

You will need to enter the BIOS of the PC and make sure all IDE devices are auto-detected. This error is common if the device used to install Win2k is no longer attached to the system (i.e a CDrom or slaved HD or USB device).
Also make sure the boot order is set correctly to match the devices that are actually present (Floppy, CD, Hard drive)

Loads to Blue Screen

OK, long story short:

Bought son a puter (tower + nice 17" Compaq monitor) at a yard sale for $6 (no cables etc). Seller knew nothing about it, other than it was "computer parts."

It starts to load the Win2000 start up screen, then skips to a blue screen -
In the top left it says "Inacessible boot device."

Looking through possibilities someone has suggested it could be the BIOS... is this indeed a possibility and any ideas where to go from here?

Son and his friend took the hard drive out, installed it on friends puter as a slave, it was recognized and had some viruses on it and was cleared. Win2000 was installed. Put HD back into puter.

Any ideas? I appreciate any help (not nearly as much as son will tho!).

Here is the info son found on puter:

Processor:
Intel (R) Celeron (R) CPU
2.40 GHz (100 x 24.0 CPUID:OF29)
Bios Version:
P4561 Bios
Cache Size 128 Kb
Microcode update F29/11

Edited to add: Sorry if this thread is in the wrong forum - I dont know enough about puters to know where exactly to put it.....

Purchase or download an Open Source OS and install it.

We'd rather get the long story and have enough information to help in the first place.

That's not what you told us the first time?

Do you have a valid Windows 2000 licence to be used on this PC?

We'd prefer it if you didn't start new topics for existing questions - I have merged this into your original discussion.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, this is fixable. Genuine Windows 2000 can be repaired or as Degsy points out, assuming no valid Microsoft licence, an open source (Linux) alternative can be installed instead.
