Oh yeah, Super Size Me, what a revelation.

"And for my next trick, I'm going to consume nothing but celery and water for 30 days and see how healthy it is"

Looks like somebody never learnt that too much of anything can be bad for you.

Have a friend on this 'grapefruit' diet thing. I told her only two things necessary to lose weight and get into shape.
Push ups: Push up from the table quicker and eat some good things.
Exercise: 3 times a week for 20 minutes a session. I know this works.
Ever since the Earl of Sandwich first ordered meat between two pieces of bread in 1765....
Never knew that piece of good info.
Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun. Have known that jingle for many, many years.

If I remember correctly, the 4th Earl of Sandwich was a gambler who was too lazy to eat a proper meal, hence the bread and meat snack. Or that's an urban legend. I dunno. Where's Adam and Jamie when you need them?

"Supersize me" was a real eye-opener. don't know how it did it, but I now notice the fatty stench when near a McD's.
Have a diabetic in the family, and the GF said about 8 years ago that Mackies must be full of sugar, due to the lad's reaction to the stuff. Sure enough, she was proved right. Ych-y-fi as we say in these parts.

Old John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich - what a lad. Take a few moments to read up on him ( get the pro and con stories for balance). If he were today, he'd be in the Rolling Stones.

That supersize me film/program made me hungry. But seriously KFC and Burger King are so much better. Give me a zinger tower burger or XL Double Bacon cheeseburger over a greasy Big Mac anyday.

Heh, I'd give anything for those older ones again. The formula now is white for a few months, black for a few months, mexican for a few months. Their marketing department has some serious problems I think...

PS- Fad documentaries shouldn't even be in the conversation here, there are plenty of neo-liberal bias boards around with their "anecdotal evidence" and "namecalling wit" that house all that crap. Discussion about those definately belongs there.

Soo McD aint got any better since May 2006 then. Never touched the stuff for 4 years after it caused an amazing technicolour yawn and eye of the needle stuff. I think Pedigree Chum would cause less damage.

Sorry to hear that you all have some sort of allergy to certain types of food (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0258470/). I've been eating McDonalds for years (not every day of course) and have not gotten sick from it. But then, our Maccas burgers are made from 100% beef. Maybe it's the mad cow disease making you all sick?

But what do I care? I'm a helicopter!
