email problem

I have win98SE and outlook express. Using AVG Free.

When I compose a message and click on "send" I get a dialog box with an error message. If I hide it, the message appears in my "out" box. If I then highlight the message and click "send", I get the same error message.
The only way the message will go is when I restart the computer.
My server has told me that the problem is due to the antivirus program. I went to the AVG site but there is no way to get any technical support or even contact them through their site.
Has anyone run into this problem? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have exactly same setup and experience no probs.
If you disable AVG, does OE work properly then?
Has this combo ever worked correctly?
If yes, when did prob start?
What was done in between these times? Hardware/software, programs, etc,?

The problem started about a month ago. Till last week when I try to send the message it would give an error message. After I hide the dialog box, the message would be in the out box and if I highlighted the message and clicked send the message would be sent.
Starting last week the message would not go at all until I restarted the computer. I have not made any changes to the computer for a while.
Please let me know how to disable AVG and I will let you know if it changes anything,

hi

do you keep a lot of emails in outlook folders?

or do you archive, backup and cleanup?
Outlook and OE can get bogged down by the folders in it growing too big.
Personally, I do not think it is an AVG problem.

Yes I do. How does one save the email file without losing the attachments?
