Everybody talks about "channels" for IDE drives and CD ROM drives. Where can I read up on theses and find out how to set them?

A little news on channels: the Serial ATA interface is coming soon, and the new, thin SATA cables does away with the parallel ATA ribbon cables. Also, the SATA does away with the slave/master relationship for each channel (!) - providing every device with it's own path to the 150MB/sec bus. Can you say speed?:cool:
