I currently have two Wireless Routers, A Buffalo Air Station and a Linkys Wireless-B Broadband Router.
This is my potential setup. I have my Buffalo Router broadcasting wirelessly to a Windows XP machine in a room at the opposite end of the house. The XP Machine has internet from the Buffalo router. I have a wired NIC on the XP Machine as well as the wireless NIC. The wired NIC is then hooked up to the linksys router and I should be able to get internet on my laptop out in the yard.
Here is my problem. I have a $0 budget. I can't run a network cable from one end of the house to the other, it will interfere with the doors and people have threatened to kill me if I do that. So using these tools I have right now, my family wants wireless internet out in the yard. Because our yard is large, we need to have a second access point at the opposite end of the house to reach where the point in the yard where we want access.
My initial thought was that I could enable internet connection sharing on the XP machine and it would share the connection to the linksys router and I would be able to extend my network range. This worked fine for a couple days, but we had to reset the computer and it never worked again. The computer has since left the house and I have another one in its place.
Any ideas on how to solve this problem without spending any money?
Here is a layout of how I want to set it up for all you visual people. These are the only viable positions for these components.
