My ISP is AOL, and I usually connect to the internet using the AOL software.

I set up a dial up ntworking account, and have successfully connected to the internet.

Now, when I try to share my connection I get an error message:

"Cannot Enable Shared Access. Error 1060. This service does not exist an an installed service."

This happens when I choose either, "Local Area Connection", "Wireless Network Connection", and "Local Area Network Connection 2"

Also, when I try to enable the firewall when setting up a new connection it says it doesn't exist as an installed service. The same as it says when trying to share the connection.

When I looked at the properties of my internet connection I saw this...

I don't know if the bottom 2 need to be enabled but I tried highlighting them amd clicking Install but it says there's no drivers.

Please help

Hi there,

Are you using a router or ICS? Either way, I've read that AOL doesn't like a lot of routers or ICS.

However, doing a Google brought up this
....If you've been trying to get ICS to work witih PPPoE, you've probably discovered that it doesn't work very well...but in general, ICS won't work with PPPoE.

There might be a workaround; Check the ICS Control panel and make sure that the "Connect to the Internet Using" selection is set to "AOL Adapter" and not "AOL Dial-up Adapter" (taken from here). (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/ics/ics_troubleshoot.htm)

Maybe contact AOL themselves, or try a decent ISP ;)

Try a program called CCProxy. Run this on the PC with the internet connection. If your getting a standard PC-PC connection with a IP of something liek 192.168.1.1, they setup the program to allow your other PC to acces the net using the internet connection you have. Its pretty easy to use and works on all ISP types (Dial, ADSL, Cable, WISP, ect...) http://www.youngzsoft.net/ccproxy/ Never use Windows ICS for internet sharing, cause basically, it blows and is a pain to setup and use.
