Hi

can you boot to the windows 98 CD, or download a bootdisk (what you run to make a boot floppy you then boot from), and then run

fdisk /status

can you do that?

this gives you a report on what hard drives it sees...

sh0cky, I have the exact same problem

the FAT 32 partion is my problem so says Win 98

I made a boot disk from
http://www.bootdisk.com/bootdisk.htm
This is how I got the above message.

I will be watching and hopefully learning

I have also read on this site
That removing your hard drive if it's a Maxtor
and putting it in insulating wrap and then
putting it in the freezer may help??

hi
the freezer trick is solely for data rescue.
a drive with surface errors or other hardware faults is not going to last much longer.
when the freezer comes in, it already fails to run...
Yep, the freezer thing is sometimes succesfully used to make it run for a while, sometimes even long enough to get crucial data off...

this here case, we must still find out wether that drive is still seen when one boots to floppy, and tries fdisk /status
the drive
