One can not act that facial expression. Pure real. Priceless.
He did a great job of maintaining composure. I wish I could see the interviewer's face after she found out who she ws talking to.
Thanks girl.

what a fantastic story.
He was interviewed on Radio4 tonight (so you can't get a DAB signal on the Heads of the Valleys road - ok!).
He didn't get the job

Don't bother Snurfen, it's online here (if that's the same one).

No, it's his actual column printed in IT WEEK- superbly observed and very funny.
He's a very witty guy and I can't wait till he next turns up at our local BCS meeting - we see him about once a year. The guy is a very sociable raconteur, so it should be a good laugh.

I'm not black. I'm not black on a startling scale; I'm fair-haired, blue-eyed, prominent-nosed, and with the sort of pale skin that makes my dermatologist wince each time I complain about an itchy mole. I'm a walking candidate for chronic sunburn damage. I’m really, really not black.
Gotta love it.

Not to be funny but he’s a bit pathetic.
I have read the link that oracle posted and the PDF snurfen sent me.
He is so racist, and really mardy about the whole thing.

Most people would have just laughed at it, he’s taking the whole thing to seriously.

I think he's just exaggerating that fact, because the stage manager (or whoever went and got the other Guy) knew what he looked like, and that he was white, yet still got the wrong guy/Guy. I mean, maybe if it were two guys of the same skin color, you could think to yourself "maybe he's aged a bit since his photo, or changed hair style" or whatever, but there's no excuse for getting a person of a totally different ethnicity. Wouldn't it be funny if they dragged a woman on stage?

I'd probably be pretty pissed at the whole thing too; if I'd been summoned to appear on a nationally-broadcast show, had prepared for weeks in advance, only to be mistaken for the wrong person and basically told "Sorry! But you can go home now"...

He's just taking the bit and running with it. He exaggerates all to the nth degree just for effect. He expounded on the black thing because it sounded funny and he knew it. Everything has to be racially motivated these days.
I thought the whole situation was funnier than a Dick Van Dyke Show.
Probably because of people like me that post pics like this:

African I-Pod.
