my logo, ms dos, startup options (F8) are all stuffed over to the left side screen. However in windows my screen is just fine. I never moved anything on the monitor controls, as I was messing around with some settings, etc.. :I with X-setup-old free version and I however did take out webcheck.dll (nothing wrong in windows, and heard it was buggy and the cause of many problems, and I did however take out active desktop before all this and it didn't hurt it. Since webcheck.dll is for active desktop and I completely disabled it and so far no SUPER dooper regrets... :I so what could be causing my logo, options etc.. before the windows GUI booting being shoved over to the left and off the screen?

Your monitor may have problems. If the adjustments will not bring into the right perspective, looks like bad monitor.
Now Windows will make a bad monitor look good. The settings on the graphics cards will allow proper monitor operation but looks like crap if you boot to dos.
But, just for grins, and major troubleshooting techniques, try monitor on another working good system. This will confirm monitor status.

no monitor is just fine (i only have one system up and running now-rest taken apart...) I know at least that. its a settings I changed and again I know at least that, however I forgot which one.. :( and I don't want/lazy to go thru a zillion of them. I was wondering if anyone knew the exact setting that did this..
however here is my system.ini:

Ok, if you think the prob lay in the system.ini settings, boot to dos and at the c: prompt type scanreg/restore and choose a date, from 4 choices, when the monitor was working good. Answer yes to the Q's and reboot.
This will roll your registry back up to 5 days. And since the registry contains the system.ini file along with win.ini, system.dat and user.dat files, your settings will be restored. I hope this works for you as I'm also too lazy to go through all those settings.

If some of the settings you were messing with are in the BIOS, it may be a "mismatch" between the video card and the video display settings in the BIOS. It should be set to VGA or possibly VGA/EGA.
Or you could just set the BIOS back to default values and take it from there.

:P well da! here's my EXCUSE for being so idiotic, it was my monitor settings. The excuse was that I stayed up all night and i just got some sleep. but the first responder was right, win GUI made it look like nothing was wrong and even after moving the screen to the right position the inside GUI seems to have not any effect at all (BEATS ME).. :X what's odd tho is that i didin't change it personally before the incident and nothing happened.. (i am the only one using the computer)....
However I would like to thank each and everyone of you for responding to my request in a quick professional manner however if you do have suggests for the system.ini or any other suggestions just post them here or PM me..if not regard this thread as [RESOLVED] or [CLOSED]-whichever one floats your boat....

Glad you resolved it. My monitor, right now, if I use it in dos the screen is trapezoidal and will not straighten out. Works great in Windows so no probs.
If your monitor looses its mind again and again, it may be going south. Just keep aware of it.
Good luck.
