It they do that with vista every one (not literly) will just get a copy then get a cheaper real one.
It just shows how much they over charge.
If they sold it for $100 cheaper to start with more people would buy it rather than get a copy.

Since Vista comes out in some time and XP gets older, it's a good move to get as much money as they can from something that wont have the same sales in some time as something new. (XP vs Vista) ;)

I don't think they will do the same think with Vista, it wouldn't be very smart. At least not for now.

And they do overcharge, but still Windows is used by most pc users so, even if some people do use illegal copies, there will still be enough money to earn by legit copies.( ok more than enough:D )
(allthough there was an article about preventing piracy with Vista, i don't really remember what it was about)

its all about money. I wonder if there is anything added to the software so they can watch that individual computer for future piracy.
