I'm currently working in a small store that's part of an outdoor plaza-type mall. My boss' office is at the other end, and they have wireless setup. I already have permission to use it, but the problem is the signal is fairly low, topping out at 15% but often dropping to 7% or disconnecting completely.

I use a laptop with a plain cardbus wireless adapter (Linksys WPC54GS).

I can't go adding anything in the office, or any of the other offices/shops down through the place, so I was curious if there is anything I can do on my end.

Try a Cantenna (http://www.cantenna.com/), or build your own.

Heh, interesting.

Would a range extender with an external antenna get a better signal than one of those little laptop cards?

Update:

Bought a range extender, and it works great. It halved my interference.
